Upper West – Santa Monica’s Best Kept Secret

The annual Christmas Party for my husband’s place of employment was being held in Santa Monica on a Wednesday night, from Orange County that’s at least an hours drive and in our case it took an hour and a half. In the middle of the week, let’s just say that could be a challenge, but it was well worth it. The party was held at a restaurant called Upper West and it was wonderful. It’s not in the heart of Santa Monica so it made it easier to get to and they have valet parking. It had a great, cool vibe but was still really comfortable. The attire was casual to dressy casual and the food was AMAZING!!! I really love when I find a good restaurant and want to share. It’s so lovely to have a nice dinner, with great ambiance, delicious food and friendly service, this place had it all.

I was so busy having fun that I forgot to take pictures so this is not our holiday party, but here is the main dining room. It’s a medium size restaurant which really makes the place feel warm and cozy, and the wood, rafters and lighting really give it this cool vibe and a loft like feel that I loved.

We had a private room which was in the front of the restaurant and partitioned off by a wall of glass, so you could see into the main dining room and made the private room seem even bigger than it was. There was probably about 40 people in our party.

Here’s the private dining area. To the right is the front of the restaurant so you get a nice street view and to the left is the glass partition that separates the large dining area.

On the back wall they showed Christmas movies which made it so fun and festive.


Since we were a large party the menu was already picked out. The prices were not bad at all for a large party and they have a few different menus you can choose from, you can check that out on their website here. This was our menu and it was all delicious.

They were so accommodating to my gluten free needs. I had a lovely salad as an appetizer and the Root Vegetable Risotto was to die for, I’m mean really to die for. They had plenty to offer for vegetarians too.  I didn’t try the other three  meat options but everyone really enjoyed what they ordered too. My husband had the Flatiron Steak and said it was delicious.

The desserts were wonderful, I had a gluten free  Brown Butter-Toffee ice-cream, but everyone else had the
