My birthday was a few weeks ago and my 19 year old daughter Sage, who happens to be an artist, got me such a sweet gift. She bought me an adult coloring book. It was funny timing because I had just read about a paint by numbers software, where you can download any picture and they create a paint by numbers, so you can make your own personal art (see info here). I loved that idea so much and was pleasantly surprised with the gift of a coloring book because it too can be a great way to make personal art for your home. I plan on finishing a couple and framing them.
Recently we had to take a quick trip which required 4 plane rides total and the coloring book and colored pencils where easy to take along and was such a great way to pass along the time when flying (and frankly taking my mind off flying, not one of my favorite things to do). It felt creative, calming and reminded me of the joy that comes with the simplicity of that kind of activity. Raising two girls, we did lots of coloring. It was one of our favorite pass times. It’s fun to feel like a kid sometimes. Oh but don’t forget a pencil sharpener, which unfortunately I did.
I’m really loving the idea of using this as artwork in my home so I looked up a bunch and found some that I think would make amazing art when framed.
All adult coloring books found at Barnes and Nobel, search adult coloring books. The exception is the Vogue coloring book which was found on Amazon.
Here’s the book my daughter got me…Working on my masterpiece on the plane…
Here are some I thought would be interesting.
Graphic…
Floral…
Sea and Animal (adorable for kids rooms)…
So cute for a little girls room…
Now I can be a real artist, with this one…
My favorite of course would be fashion…
Another fav interior design and architecture…
When I was a little girl I always drew houses, so this one really spoke to me…
Travel…
These would make a really unique gift or stocking stuffer, just wrap with some nice colored pencils and a sharpener and it doesn’t break the bank.
Happy coloring.
All the best,
Joy
Coloring isn’t for kids anymore! Hahahaha….I love to color. This is a great post. Cheers, Koko❀
